Board-certified neurosurgeon
Developer of Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy®
20+ years of experience
Deuk Joint Institute grew out of Deuk Spine Institute, founded in 2004 by Dr. Ara Deukmedjian and Sun Deukmedjian, PA, in Florida’s Space Coast. What began as a single neurosurgery practice became a leader in minimally invasive, curative treatment for chronic pain.
As Dr. Deukmedjian refined Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy®, he found it could relieve arthritic pain far beyond the spine — in knees, hips, shoulders, ankles, and other joints. Deuk Joint Institute was created to bring that same philosophy to peripheral joint pain: eliminate the pain, preserve the joint, and avoid major replacement surgery whenever possible.
PATENTED INNOVATIONS
Dr. Deukmedjian holds three U.S. patents covering the minimally invasive techniques performed at Deuk Joint Institute. These proprietary innovations are available exclusively through our practice.

An improved rhizotomy method using an electrocautery probe with a “wanding” technique — moving the energized probe through multiple directions while treating target nerves. Creates treatment zones of 10–1,000 mm² (vs ~4 mm² with conventional RF ablation), enabling potentially permanent denervation for chronic joint pain.

A percutaneous rhizotomy method using an energized surgical probe wanded over sensory nerves innervating spinal facet joints, shoulders, hips, knees, and SI joints. Covers treatment areas of 50–1,000 mm², dramatically improving nerve signal interruption compared to traditional RF ablation.

A minimally invasive method for repairing damaged spinal discs by delivering copper nanoparticles or microparticles directly to the injury site. Using medical imaging guidance, a hollow shaft is inserted to the damaged disc, copper particles are dispensed to accelerate healing of annular tears, and the shaft is removed — covering both needle injection and full endoscopic approaches.
